HEDP 60% Liquid - Hydroxyethylidene Diphosphonic Acid for Industrial Boiler Systems

HEDP Antisludging Agent – Hydroxyethylidene Diphosphonic Acid for Water Treatment

HEDP is a high-performance phosphonic acid scale inhibitor with outstanding chelating and corrosion inhibition properties. Key features:

  • Excellent stability in high-temperature/high-pH systems
  • Strong scale inhibition for CaCO₃, CaSO₄, and BaSO₄
  • Low phosphorus release (environmentally friendlier)
  • Compatible with oxidizing biocides

Widely used in cooling water, oilfields, and RO systems.

SPECIFICATION

Key Advantages

  • Superior Scale Inhibition:
    • Effective against CaCO₃, CaSO₄, BaSO₄, and iron deposits
    • Threshold inhibition (works at sub-stoichiometric doses)
  • Corrosion Protection:
    • Forms stable protective film on carbon steel & copper
    • Synergistic with zinc ions for enhanced performance
  • High-Temperature Stability:
    • Maintains efficacy up to 220°C (428°F)
    • Resistant to chlorine/oxidizers (≤10 ppm residual Cl₂)

Applications

  • Cooling Water Systems:
    • Open/closed recirculating systems
    • Effective dosage: 5-30 ppm
  • Oilfield Applications:
    • Squeeze treatments for scale control
    • Compatible with brines (≤25% salinity)
  • RO & Desalination:
    • Prevents membrane scaling
    • Works at pH 2-10

Dosing Guidelines

  1. Cooling Water: 10-50 ppm (adjust per LSI)
  2. Boiler Water: 5-20 ppm + oxygen scavenger
  3. Oilfield: 50-500 ppm in squeeze treatments

Safety & Handling

  • Corrosive – use PPE (gloves, goggles)
  • LD50 (rat, oral): 1,870 mg/kg
  • Biodegradability: ~20% (OECD 301B)
  • Store in HDPE/PP containers (avoid carbon steel)
